Tom Shaw
Teaching is not just a profession; it is a passion of mine. I get great joy from watching children thrive and immerse themselves in their learning journeys and actively encourage each child to be the very best version of themselves. At the heart of my classroom lies a commitment to fostering curiosity and nurturing a love of learning. My aim is to ensure children enjoy their primary school experience while equipping them to navigate the rapidly evolving world that awaits them beyond its gates. I pride myself on being a happy and positive individual, with a good sense of humour—qualities I believe are vital in the classroom. Moreover, I am always eager to learn new things. Even though I have ten years of teaching experience, I continually reflect upon my practice, embodying my belief in lifelong learning. As Brian Tracy eloquently said, “Commit yourself to lifelong learning. The most valuable asset you'll ever have is your mind and what you put into it.”
Outside of teaching, I have two young children and enjoy spending time with my family. My free time is mostly spent on days out at the beach (often searching for sea glass!) and exploring some of the beautiful walks around South Devon. I have also always been interested in and involved with sports-based activities, participating frequently in my spare time. My interest in sports has led me to complete many qualifications and use them to work within the sporting fields of the local community.
