At Totnes St John's Primary School, the health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concern.  We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us.  Our aim is that children enjoy their time as pupils at this school.

Safeguarding our children is everyone's responsibility. If you have any concern for one of our children please contact any of the Safeguarding Officers listed below or you can contact MASH (Devon County Council Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) on 0345 155 1071 mashsecure@devon.gcsx.gov.uk

The contact details for our safeguarding team can be found on posters throughout the school.

We have ensured that everyone working in the school has successfully completed the necessary clearances to enable them to work with pupils and we have staff members who are specifically trained in Child Protection procedures.  We also have a wide range of policies which ensure that we are in line with current safeguarding practices along with a safeguarding guidance leaflet to ensure that all adults working or visiting the school are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities.

You can view and download a copy of our safeguarding guidance leaflet for visitors to the school below.

On rare occasions our concern about a child may mean we have to consult other agencies, such as the Police, or Social Services.  The procedures we follow have been laid down by Devon County Council. By working closely with everyone concerned, we firmly believe that we will continue to offer a safe learning environment for all our learners. To learn more about our safeguarding practices and procedures, please view our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy below.
